Paul Kirtley is co-chair of the 2022 Global Bushcraft Symposium.
Paul was asked by the 2019 Global Bushcraft Symposium board to take the GBS forwards to its next iteration, hosting the 2022 Global Bushcraft Symposium in the UK.
Paul had been a keynote speaker at the 2019 GBS. After being approached by the 2019 organisers, he decided to ask fellow keynote speaker Dr Lisa Fenton, also from the UK, if she would co-chair the next GBS with him. This was an acceptable proposition to all involved, so Paul and Lisa proceeded as co-chairs.
Paul has been involved in the delivery of bushcraft training since 2003. In 2010, Paul formed Frontier Bushcraft, the vehicle through which he now provides most of his teaching. Frontier Bushcraft offers field courses, trips and expeditions, along with online courses.
Over the years Paul has worked alongside Ray Mears, Lars Fält, Ray Goodwin, and David Scott-Donelan. In addition to his core competencies within bushcraft skill-sets, Paul is a Canoe Leader and Canoe Coach under British Canoeing, and a UK Mountain Leader.
Paul’s first book, Wilderness Axe Skills and Campcraft was published by Schiffer Publishing in 2021.
